Can't Sleep? 7 Eats to Avoid.

1. Aged Cheese (Parmesan, Romano, Asiago, and other hard cheeses). The high levels of the amino acid tyramine are known to keep you up.

2. Milk Chocolate. It contains tyrosine, which is converted into dopamine, a stimulate which causes alertness and restlessness, which can keep you up at night.

3. Spicy Foods can cause heartburn.

4. Tomato-based Sauces can cause heartburn and acid reflux.

5. Soy has a high amount of tyramine.

6. Ginseng Tea. Herbal teas have been shown to act as stimulants.

7. Processed or Smoked Meats contain high levels of tyramine and makes the brain release a chemical that makes us feel alert.
